Monday Motivation - December 17th

Hi everyone,

Thanks for tuning into our last Monday Motivation for 2018. We’ll give you a rest for Christmas and the New Year, so our next MM will be Monday, January 7th - it'll probably be packed with a heap of New Year health goals! However, be on the lookout for the monthly round-up from your chosen clinic this Friday too.

Now we’re in the deepest of winter, I’m sure you’ve heard loads about ways to boost your immune system. As opposed to just guessing your vitamin D levels, you can now have it properly tested for £39. Or take look at cholesterol, vitamin B12 and a few liver and cardiovascular markers for £59.  I just did mine and it turns out my vitamin D was low, so I’m now supplementing and will plan a retest soon.

iPhone users, you’ve probably come across the space bar hack. Press and hold your space bar, and it becomes a way to move your cursor. Although it's been a feature for three years, I’m a little ashamed to admit I’ve only just discovered it.If taking a cold shower every morning or the idea of an ice bath gives you the shivers, maybe spending a day with “The Iceman” Wim Hof in London in February is a way to push your comfort zones. I plan on attending – I too hate ice baths and the thought of being cold, but if anyone can convince me that a cold shower each morning can prolong the length of my life, it’s Wim! Read more about him here.

Meditation for the Fidgety Skeptics. It’s a book. It’s a podcast.  It’s an app. But basically it’s a cool eye-catching title enticing me – the non-meditator – to give it a try. I’ve downloaded the app and will be trying it over Christmas.

I also listened to this podcast recently: The Naked Professors, two blokes revealing all in the aim of helping people deal with mental health challenges. It’s new and their first guest was Davina McCall.

Finally, a little bit of Christmas trivia for you… In the song “The 12 Days of Christmas”, have you ever wondered how many gifts does the true love receive? Don’t cheat (but you’ll find the answer here)!

Merry Christmas!

Craig
