Boom. Strong start to an email right there. Happy Thoughtful Thursday, guys!

Mindfulness and meditation have been proposed a few times by us (and many others) recently, and I'm about to add to it. Stanford neuroscientist Dr Andrew Huberman discusses the nature of the nervous system organising the immune system on the WHOOP podcast, and describes a breathing exercise which could almost be a "hack" – if it wasn't based so firmly in neurology.

His method: breathe in through your nose and as you reach a full breath, add an extra sharp intake using your diaphragm muscle (think tummy), then gently exhale through your nose. Repeat 4-5 times.

This has been demonstrated to neurologically activate parts of your brainstem that are responsible for sighing, which help you relax and reset. Listen here and skip to the 39 minute-mark for the breathing bit.

More things that are worth a listen…

  • Sonos have now opened up to the world of global radio. You're sure to find all your favourites from all over the world.

  • Seriously digging this High Vibrations playlist on Spotify to chill out to (goes well with the above breathing technique, too).

  • Some food for thought: How much is a human life worth? This is a fascinating listen on NPR about how governments figure out the monetary value of a life – a little scary, but relevant.

Worth a watch…

  • With sports events on hiatus and all these new social behaviours and regulations in place, here's a very funny sports commentator calling this new world as he sees it.

  • The BFI have a whole bunch of free films available online that can be searched for by location… what was set near you?

Worth drinking…

  • Plant-based milk substitutes. Lots of options, lots of opinions. Take your own path here and build your own.

  • And due to the great feedback so far, here's one more plug for our friends at Astrum Wines who are making the contents of their cellars available to the public - use the code “CHIROLONDON” for a special discount.

Stay safe. Stay special. Big love,
