Mindful Monday - July 20th

Hello and good morning wonderful people!

The start of another week is upon us (or are we upon the start of another week!?) and what better time to take a moment and consider what our intention is for today and the next seven days.

An intention could be along the lines of:

- Openness

- Compassion

- To listen

Intentions can be the focus of your energy for the day/week and can serve as anchors/reminders when we start to stray into uncertain behaviours or old habits that may not serve us so well. I'm currently experimenting with: To be humble. (I also regularly ask myself, "What is my intention today?" as a little reminder.)

The Road to Self-Renewal

Staying current, evolving with the times, being of service – however you think of it, it's always crucial and empowering. Here's my favourite section from a great (15-minute) read on Medium:

“Meaning is not something you stumble across, like the answer to a riddle or the prize in a treasure hunt. Meaning is something you build into your life. You build it out of your own past, out of your affections and loyalties, out of the experience of humankind as it is passed on to you, out of your own talent and understanding, out of the things you believe in, out of the things and people you love, out of the values for which you are willing to sacrifice something. The ingredients are there. You are the only one who can put them together into that unique pattern that will be your life. Let it be a life that has dignity and meaning for you. If it does, then the particular balance of success or failure is of less account.”

How to Survive a Pandemic

Two of my favourite people – Rich Roll and Dr Michael Greger – get together to discuss the merits of a healthy lifestyle and appropriate social measures regarding the current health climate. Listen to them here, watch them here, and get the new book here.

Getting dirty on bikes

This cycling power couple essentially spent lockdown thinking up cool challenges to do on their bikes. Laura King crushed Vermont to Canada (140 miles) and stopped to breastfeed their little one, while husband Ted cycled the length of Vermont (310 miles) on trails.

Adventures are all around us if we take the time to look…

Musical Plants

Talking, singing and playing music to plants (amazing, by the way) is old hat, but switching it around so plants are making the music is relatively new.

These clever folk have figured out how to tap into plants' musical charm and turn it into a beautiful experience.

Have an intentional week. :)

Big love,

Luke X
