Mindful Monday - March 29th

Hello and good morning for the final time in March.

How are you feeling? A little bleary-eyed after "losing" an hour of sleep as the clocks sprung forward?

Daylight Saving has been around for over a century and some interesting characters were involved in promoting the merits of changing the clocks, including the great-great grandfather of Coldplay's Chris Martin. Nat Geo goes deep into the weird and wonderful 100-year history of savouring the day(light) here.

Sleep food
Last week I mentioned a great sleep app (Sleep School) and book (The Sleep Revolution) so this week let's talk food. As you can probably imagine, there are foods that support great sleep and a bunch that do the opposite.

Sleepy foods include oats, broccoli, vitamin B12 and bananas, while wired foods include chocolate (oh dear...), alcohol (sorry) and heavy/fatty foods (hmmm…). Read here to learn more about how to engineer a better night's sleep.

Phone time wasting
Most of us are guilty of mindlessly scrolling through an Insta or Twitter feed or going down a YouTube worm hole at some point... but did you know that you can set daily limits for each app? It involves going into your phone's settings and getting honest with yourself. This article shows you how to do it.

Thoughtful tote
I love this phone brand, Punkt, and their ethos of keeping things super simple. Turns out they also do pretty sweet totes with great little reminders – "Is tech making us stupid?", "Boredom is essential for creativity", and my fave, "Multitasking is a myth". Get yours here.

And ending on a thoughtful note...

“When you care more about getting things right than being right, you get better outcomes and you save time and energy.”

Couldn't have said it better myself, thanks FS.
